On a Side Note

So part of my goals for this year is to work on my craftsmanship and professionalism and hopefully start expanding my name outside of school. So I'm taking another step by creating a blog apart from the one that revolves only around my Illustration classes. Here I'll be posting more things about my personal work and interests. I'll be posting finished projects from classes here as well, but without all the tedious sketchbook mess and research. I may also post a few things from my personal sketchbook, from the hobbies I partake in and just generally what's going on in life at the moment. I'll try to keep this updated pretty regularly....key word is try.

So as for today, I was at the Memphis Library earlier this morning with our career services director and other MCA students for the new library card unveiling. This was the design of mine that made it into...the finals I guess?

I didn't win, but it was pretty cool that I made it to the unveiling and got to publicize myself and my school. However, I was surprised that my first (and in my opinion better) design didn't make it over this one.
I was disappointed simply because I feel this was just a better representation of me and the kind of things I like to do. But oh well, all's well that ends well and it was a fun experience. Hope you all have a great day!

  1. I'm with you, Olivia. I like the tree one better, too. It looks like an enchanted forest with dreams dripping from the trees.

  2. Thank you Mrs. H! Another thing about the ducks was that it was really an afterthought. The trees were the first design. Then out of the blue with very little time to get it together, they asked us for a second design, so I threw it together very haphazardly. But it's all said and done now, so there's no changing it. Oh well.
